Here is your curated guide to the finest sightseeing destinations around Manali, Kullu and the Parvati Valley.
Rohtang Pass
At an elevation of 13,054 ft, Rohtang Pass lies about 53 km from Manali on the Pir Panjal Range. The gateway to Lahaul & Spiti valleys, it offers breathtaking glacier views, the twin peaks of Geypan and access to the legendary Ladakh highway. Snow volume attracts visitors until the end of July.
Solang Nullah
13 km north of Manali, Solang is famed for year-round adventure — skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, zorbing and quad bikes. The recently installed cable car ascends to 3,200 m and operates in all seasons, offering stunning panoramas of the Beas Valley.
Hadimba Temple
An ancient wood-and-stone temple built in 1550 AD, set within a serene Deodar grove. The four-tiered pagoda-shaped roof and the carved wooden doorway adorned with figures and symbols make it one of the most photographed landmarks in Manali town.
Manu Maharishi Temple
Situated in Old Manali village, 2 km from the taxi stand, this is the only known temple dedicated to Manu — the legendary Hindu law-giver believed to have survived the great flood in these very hills. Accessible by road and a short walk through the old village lanes.
Vashisht Temple & Hot Springs
A fair-sized village on the left bank of the Beas, renowned for its therapeutic hot sulphur water springs and the ancient temples of Vashisht Rishi and Lord Rama. One can also witness the scenic confluence of the Beas and Manalsu rivers from here.
Tibetan Monastery
A peaceful monastery housing a magnificent image of the Buddha alongside exquisite thangka paintings. The monastery is famous for its traditional carpet weaving workshops and a rich display of Tibetan handicrafts — an authentic cultural immersion near Manali town.
Vaishno Devi Temple
A small cave shrine housing an image of Goddess Vaishno Devi, along with temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Rama and Krishna. A spiritual sanctuary that draws pilgrims and devotees seeking blessings amid the Himalayan foothills.
Kullu Shawl Weaving Industries
The Kullu valley is celebrated for its hand-woven shawls and traditional handicrafts. Visitors can watch master weavers at work producing export-quality Kullu shawls, wall hangings, Kullu caps, mufflers and jackets — ideal keepsakes from your Himalayan stay.
Manikaran
Located in the Parvati Valley, Manikaran is famed for its scalding hot springs on the banks of the Parvati river — hot enough to cook rice and dal. A revered pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Sikhs, it is also steeped in legend: Lord Shiva and Parvati are said to have lost and recovered her earring (mani) here.
Jagatsukh Temple
An ancient temple complex in Shikhara architectural style, housing dedicated shrines to Lord Shiva, Gayatri Devi and Sharvali Devi. Legend holds that this sacred site was created by the Pandavas. Located at Jagatsukh village, a short drive from Manali.
Naggar Castle
The erstwhile capital of the Kullu kingdom, Naggar Castle was built by Raja Bhosaal and is now a heritage hotel managed by HPTDC. The castle offers sweeping views of the Kullu Valley and stands as a testament to the region's rich royal history. Naggar village itself is a charming detour.
Roerich Art Gallery
Housed in the historic Naggar Estate, the Roerich Art Gallery showcases the masterworks of Russian artist Nicholas Roerich — the 'Master of the Mountains.' His luminous paintings of the Himalayan range evoke the same mountain soul that defines The Foghills experience. A must-visit for art and culture enthusiasts.
